Bishop
Eddie L. Long's Longfellows Youth Academy is a 2-4 year mentoring program for
young males ages 13 to 16. The program is designed to promote a positive
lifestyle change spiritually, academically, physically and culturally.
The program is operational throughout the year, and Bishop Eddie L. Long
personally provides instruction and encouragement on a regular basis. He also
presents the Longfellows with renowned guest speakers who cover a range of
topics from economics to basic etiquette. More concentrated studies occur
during the annual summer camp where Longfellows spend a minimum of five weeks
in the program. During the summer camp, they participate in daytime programs
and week long trips designed to mature them as Christians, future leaders and
entrepreneurs who will successfully serve the Lord, as well as their families,
churches and communities.
The Longfellows will also take field trips to a variety of locations to broaden
their awareness. Cultural
activities include the Longfellow drum line, golfing, cooking classes, special
outings and missions’ trips. The Longfellows are assigned to ment ors who
ensure that they maintain their responsibilities and requirements as a
Longfellow. These areas include but are not limited to grades, behavioral
accountability and community involvement. |
